Félicien Rops Fund – Thozée Castle

Place of exceptional memory classified as a historical monument

The painter and engraver from Namur Felicien Rops (1833-1898) was very attached to the region of Mettet (Province of Namur) and to the castle of Thozée, a proud-looking castle, camped in full nature.
In 1994, Elisabeth Rops, the artist’s granddaughter, led to the creation of the Félicien Rops Fund in order to preserve the family archives and save Thozée from decay and oblivion.
Since his death in June 1996, this Fund has revived this exceptional place of memory classified as a historic monument by the Walloon Region.
Although restoration work is not yet complete, the Félicien Rops Fund regularly organizes artistic courses and residency workshops for writers and visual artists.
Apart from the activities organized by the Félicien Rops Fund, the castle of Thozée is not accessible to the public.
On reservation, guided tours can be organized for groups.
The ground floor and the park can be rented for private or corporate activities.
