Félicien Rops Museum – Closed from 06/03 to 15/05/2023 for works!

Located in the old center of Namur, the museum presents the life and work of Félicien Rops from the beginning of his career as a caricaturist to his more daring works. Félicien Rops was born in 1833 and died in 1898 and experienced the 19th century, a period characterized by the industrial revolution, an evolution of values and norms and the Modernity that makes way for Symbolism in art. The museum wants to be a place where the temperament of this exceptional artist can be expressed.

With a specialised guide you can visit the permanent collection or the temporary exhibition. The Félicien Rops museum proposes several exhibitions every year about different themes like the 19^th century, old and contemporary graphic art, certain aspects of the work of Rops, etc. The museum proposes special themed tours of the permanent collection, like the tour Rops & the Human Rights of Rops the letter-writer. The visits can be adapted on demand of the groups. The guide invites the groups to participate, to react and to be surprised and moved by the work of Rops.

The Félicien Rops museum, situated in the historical centre, offers its premises for private evening events: cocktail parties, private visits, etc. In this case, the museum (2 floors, 900 m²) is reserved exclusively for your company after 6 pm, a place where you can offer your guests a privileged welcome.
