Place of conservation of Mons' communal heritage

The Artothèque is the place of conservation of the communal heritage of the city of Mons  (contemporary art as well as flints of Spiennes, military uniforms, ceramics, drawings, Gallo-Roman amphorae). At the heart of the Musee Pole, it is at the same time a reserve, research, restoration and heritage study center. All the communal collections are gathered there.

The Art Library also aims to discover the heritage of Mons through multimedia devices. The visit helps lift the veil on the backstage of museums. How to organize these tens of thousands of objects? Why do we keep them and who manages them ? The visitor is invited to discover them in a fun and original way thanks to the new tactile technologies.

KFamilies

And why not discover the backstage of the museums? Thanks to the touchpads and the small game booklet, you explore the collections of the city of Mons, you virtually manipulate a whole series of objects, you are researching and you compare one of your drawings with the works of the collections!

JSchools

To promote the exchange between the museum and the school around their common educational role, the Artothèque offers guided tours adapted to each grade (in French or in foreign languages), creative workshops to learn while having fun and events for schools throughout the year. Educational files are also available with the contents of the museum, documents, some traces that can be worked out in class … To help you prepare your class visits as well as possible, access to the museum is free for teachers.

OGroups

The Artothèque is located in the center of the city of Mons. A group outing is a combination of cultural discoveries, contemporary architecture, a nearby catering space and a vibrant and dynamic urban environment. De Artothèque offers competitive rates for groups (from 10 people) and guided tours in French or in foreign languages.

MCompanies

Offer your colleagues, employees or partners a rewarding moment of relaxation in a unique environment. Discover the digital space and collectibles and enjoy the facilities available on the site for your conferences, receptions or other events.

LPeople with specific needs

A specific entrance, an adapted lower info desk, an elevator, adapted toilets, parking spaces at the entrance … make the Artothèque accessible for a larger number.
