Ecomuseum of the Viroin
Located in Treignes in a castle farm classified Wallonia Heritage, the Ecomuseum of the Viroin is a link between past, present and future. The permanent exhibition presents the main craft trades formerly practiced in Entre-Sambre-et-Meuse: cooper, saddler, shoemaker, blacksmith, clog maker, etc.
Animations are proposed for the children (work of leather, workshop forge, manufacture of bread, rope, candle, etc.) and adults (guided tour of Treignes with discovery of its heritage, manufacturing of clogs).
Groups
The castle farm of Treignes is a living testimony to the rural Walloon life and is classified as a Walloon heritage. Through various activities for children and adults, the Ecomuseum of the Viroin proposes to transfer the rural history of the Entre-Sambre-et-Meuse region and the lost know-how (manufacture of clogs, bread-rope-candle workshops, leather processing, etc.). Do you have a morning or afternoon (2 to 3 hours depending on the activities) to devote to us? The reservation of guided tours (temporary and / or permanent exhibition) and workshops is mandatory and must be done by mail, fax or e-mail.
Schools
The Ecomuseum of the Viroin offers an overview of the rural world, its history and its special features, and proposes various activities aimed at the awakening of nature and its conservation, the history of the countryside and traditional know-how. In addition to the tour of the permanent exhibition (traditional crafts) and the temporary exhibition (renewed every 6 months), the animation team offers various activities for young people (from 6 to 16 years old) in which they are directly involved in the transfer of know-how (workshops for leather, forge, rope, candle, bread making, etc.). A playful and educational approach to craftsmanship and its history.
