Housed in a group of historic houses in the heart of Brussels, the Fashion & Lace Museum preserves some 20.000 pieces of lace, clothing and accessories dating from the 16th century to the present day. Its collections remain the most important in the world as regards the creation and the clothes industry of Brussels, which it aims to place in a Belgian and international context. For several years, the museum team has been strengthening the dialogue between history and contemporary fashion.
For conservation reasons, the textiles cannot be exhibited permanently. The museum therefore presents its collections mainly through temporary exhibitions.
The Fashion & Lace Museum presents its major annual exhibitions in its main circuit, the Triplex. These exhibitions highlight the museum’s collections, supplemented by loans. They address the point of view of creation, production and social use of clothing.
The Lace Room tels the visitors about the history and the making of this unique textile.
