Maison Magritte

Childhood home of the surrealist painter René Magritte

It is a bourgeois house with a facade in the “Art Nouveau” style that Magritte’s father built in 1911. The interior architecture is still as Magritte knew it, with wooden floors, tiles, caryatids, two fireplaces and etched glass doors. Place dedicated to the childhood of René Magritte and his artistic beginnings. Magritte’s relations with Châtelet and the Province of Hainaut are highlighted.
