An impressive collection related to the history of Nivelles

The Municipal Museum is housed in the former refuge of the Trinitarians of Orival, a large listed building erected in 1764. It is a home to impressive collections related to the history of Nivelles: Gothic sculptures from the collegiate, paintings of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, antique furniture, musical instruments, weapons, and above all, a remarkable set of sculptures and terracotta projects by the sculptor Laurent Delvaux (1696-1778).

The second floor presents the archaeological objects that testify to the occupation of the region from the Paleolithic to the Gallo-Roman era.

OGroups

A group of friends, an association or a family trip, let yourself be tempted by a tour of the museum. The visit (1h – 1h30, reservation required) lets you discover the history of the city of Nivelles through the museum collections. At the same time, you will also discover the history of the building classified since 1956, a former refuge of the Trinitarians. The museum also offers discovery games for a fun family visit.

For more information contact the museum directly.

JSchools

The museum collections offer many opportunities for thematic visits to illustrate the school curriculum.
