Museum of the fortified castle of Logne (Domaine de Palogne)

At the Museum of the the fortified castle of Logne, witness the history of the Lognards…

Hundreds of incredible objects await you at the Museum. They come from excavations at the castle and from a remarkable Merovingian cemetery dating from the 5th, 6th and 7th centuries.

They tell the story of the Lognards, from the great battles to the minutiae of everyday life…

The large drinking horn of a Frankish chieftain, his wife’s bone comb, the gold coin that paid for their crossing of the River Underworld, the dagger that struck many an enemy, the shoe worn down by weeks of forced marching, the wooden bowl of the mercenary who was probably hanged in 1521 …

All of these items are given a new meaning thanks to the reconstruction of a Merovingian house and tombs, a medieval table and fireplace, a film about the excavation of the well, and the modelling of the Castle of Logne before it was destroyed, an impressive vision of the building as it might have looked in 1521… Not forgetting the animated portraits of the last protagonists of the last siege of Logne in 1521!

To be discovered before or after visiting the castle, its walls and its underground passages!
