Puppets of the whole world, between heaven and earth

The Peetershotel houses an unusual museum devoted to the art of puppetry in all its forms and is located in the historic center of the city of Tournai. The Musée des arts de la Marionnette takes you to discover the hidden treasures from all over the world. This world tour will therefore take you in the footsteps of the most popular figures of European puppet theater, known to young and old, but also to those of the characters and techniques that are typical of African and Asian traditions.

In addition to the heritage of the museum, the doll center also offers the visitor various temporary exhibitions, educational activities (on request), creative workshops, as well as numerous shows, courses and training courses for children and adults.

KFamilies

The Musée des arts de la Marionnette pampers families at their request for a fun and quirky game visit to do as a family, at their own pace and in complete autonomy!

Modeled after the permanent exhibition route, this unique visit takes you on the trail of a missing doll. On the menu: observation games, manipulation, reasoning and many challenges, etc. for the whole family!

JSchools

The pedagogical staff of the Musée des arts de la Marionnette offers a range of animated visits and workshops adapted to different school levels while approaching the special and often unknown doll world in a fun and entertaining way.

The various activities, organized around the heritage exhibition “Marionnettes du Monde: Entre Terre et Ciel”, will allow children to discover a heritage that is an integral part of their historical and cultural identity, while they are invited to observe, share , create, invent but also experiment and manipulate!

OGroups

In order to adapt as much as possible to all types of audience, the animation team designed and devised two types of guided tours around the heritage exhibition «Marionnettes du Monde: Entre Terre et Ciel»:

– The tour offers a historical and cultural approach to the puppet traditions presented in the Heritage Exhibition.

– The animated tour of the exhibition not only allows you to enter the history and legends of doll traditions from all over the world, but also experience it yourself by testing the manipulation of certain types of dolls (casings, rods, rods, shadows), the touch materials, observe the details, etc.

LPeople with specific needs

In order to best meet the requirements of groups of people with specific needs, the animation team offers guest institutions a tailor-made visit for the group.
