Jean-François Lemaire is a French artist. Trained at the École des Beaux-Arts in Dijon, he studied the work of resins, elastomers, metals, bronze casting, stage sets, glass paste and cold and hot glass.

His career has led him to participate in numerous exhibitions in France, Belgium, but also in China, Norway, Germany and Taiwan.

Glass Museum of Charleroi

Born from a joint desire of the Glass Industry Federation and the City of Charleroi, the Glass Museum of Charleroi has a particular specificity in Wallonia.

Privileged meeting place between the past and the future of the glass material, it is also the living memory of the history of glass in Wallonia, whose wealth is an integral part of the construction of the identity of the region.

Preserving this history but also valuing it is one of the institution’s essential missions

The collections now contain more than 6,000 pieces of glass and tools and cover a very broad period, from Mycenaean times to contemporary glass masterpieces.

KFamilies

All year round the museum offers introductory and advanced courses on glass techniques (fusing, flaring, glass paste, …), summer courses for children, attention to artists, conferences, … Each visit is followed by a demonstration of blow molds in the workplace. It is also possible to combine any activity with the discovery of Bois du Cazier.

JSchools

The educational and cultural service guides artistic programming through multiple promotions, exchanges and meetings. This service offers general or thematic tours and workshops for plastic expression for all groups who want to discover the museum (adults, schools, youth centers, vulnerable public …).

Sharpening, analyzing, describing, comparing, admiring, exchanging, arousing artistic emotion, and developing creativity are the main objectives of this service.
