With his droll humour and his line, Jean-Jacques Sempé (1932-2022) lit up the pages of magazines and books for more than 70 years. No major exhibition of his work has ever been staged in Belgium. But that is about to change this autumn: in collaboration with the Martine Gossieaux Gallery in Paris, the great illustrator will be celebrated at the Fondation Folon, at the heart of the Solvay Regional Estate. Spanning his first humorous drawings in Moustique magazine, his covers for the New Yorker, more than 40 comic books, and the creation of Le Petit Nicolas, this exhibition includes more than 120 original illustrations. A fitting tribute to the artist – in his own mischievous and whimsical world. Fun guaranteed.
With the support of: Wallonia, Walloon Brabant, CGT, National Lottery, Delen Bank, La Première, Musiq’3, Le Soir, Moustique and TVCOM.
