In 2019, the European Association of Zoos and Aquariums (E.A.Z.A.) launched its annual wildlife conservation campaign by focusing on the disturbing disappearance of songbirds from the forests of Southeast Asia. The Natural History Museum and Terrarium of Tournai participated and included the theme in an exhibition with a broader purpose.
After the presentation of the bird and its great diversity, the trilingual exhibition (FR, NL and EN) will cover various themes, such as:
- Certain extraordinary behaviors related to temptation or migration; - Their phenomenal flying ability; - The dramatic decline of songbirds in the forests of Southeast Asia, but also the hellish disappearance spiral experienced by too many bird species from agricultural environments in our regions; - The little things we can do to preserve these fascinating species.
