Jeugdhuis van de surrealistische schilder René Magritte

Het is een burgerlijk huis met een gevel in “Art Nouveau” -stijl die Magritte’s vader in 1911 had gebouwd. De interieurarchitectuur is nog steeds zoals Magritte het kende, met parketvloeren, tegels, kariatiden, twee open haarden en geëtste ramen. Plaats gewijd aan de jeugd van René Magritte en zijn artistieke begin. Magritte’s relaties met Châtelet en de provincie Henegouwen worden benadrukt.

Van mei tot oktober gratis toegang op eerste zondag.

OGroepen

Rondleiding door het huis voor groepen vanaf 10 personen en mits reservering 3 weken vooraf.

Er wordt ook een « Promenade Magritte » aangeboden. Het is een ongewone wandeling om het surrealisme te ontmoeten. De route is permanent en ligt in het hart van het stadscentrum om werken van hedendaagse kunstenaars te ontdekken, gemaakt ter ere van René Magritte die zijn jeugd in Châtelet doorbracht. De map met de routebeschrijving is op aanvraag verkrijgbaar. Een rondleiding is mogelijk op aanvraag (voor groepen vanaf 15 personen).
