Since 2013, the pleasure garden of the villa has found a faithful reconstruction of a summer triclinium (outdoor dining room) in Saint-Romain-en-Gal (France).
We have little information about the layout of the gardens in North Gaul, but thanks to some examples of well-known locations in France, Germany and England, we nevertheless know that gardens and vegetable gardens are adjacent to the villa, usually at the back or front.
Three vegetable categories were grown in vegetable gardens: vegetables, herbs and medicinal plants. During Roman times, fruit trees were also planted along paths or in places reserved for them (fields, meadows, etc.). Some types of fruit were also imported.
For the main building (pars urbana), the trellis above the central passage makes it possible to hide in the shade of the sun. This leads to a rectangular plunge pool in the middle of the vegetable garden.
