Museum of Fine Arts of Tournai

The exhibited works range from Flemish primitives to contemporary artists, including the 17th and 18th centuries. and the Impressionists (with two exclusive works by Manet exhibited in Belgium). This is the only museum designed as such by architect V. Horta and the building is an example of the transition between Art Nouveau and Art Deco-inspired modernism. Because of its chronological precocity (inaugurated in 1928 but its first projects date back to 1907), it is one of the first prototypes of a “modern” museum at international level.
